Responsible Automation Insights Report
Automation is accelerating rapidly, driven by technological advances and amplified by COVID-19. Organisations face a critical question: How do you automate responsibly while bringing employees along on the journey?
Research with 25 professionals across 12 organisations revealed a practical framework built on five interconnected levers:
Leaders: Provide clear narratives about why automation matters and how it benefits both organisation and people.
Curiosity: Encourage employees to have open conversations about automation and collaborate to co-create the future.
Skills: Prioritise building both human and digital capabilities. Without them, automation fails.
Inclusion: Invest in vulnerable groups and ensure reskilling initiatives are accessible to all.
Collaboration: Create a culture of experimentation where teams can fail fast and learn quickly.
Organisations that automate responsibly realise tangible benefits. The top priorities identified by members include better efficiency (39%), more ‘good’ work (29%), and increased profitability (12%).
The urgency is clear: over 50% of employees will need reskilling within the next five years. Organisations that act now, with empathy, clear communication, and a focus on skills, will build sustainable competitive advantage.
